Registration for Pre-Arrival Notification
Data Privacy and POPI Act Compliance
By completing this form, you consent to the information provided being submitted to the relevant maritime authorities for the purpose of vessel clearance. This is in compliance with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA)
Entry To South Africa From A Foreign Country
In order to enter South Africa you are required to provide Pre-Arrival Notification (PAN) to the National Department of Transport (DoT). This requires inputting basic details of your boat and your crew online into an OSASA database. OSASA must receive this information at least 7 days before arrival, then forwards it to DoT for authorisation and, 3 days before arrival, to Port Health at your indicated Port of Entry for health clearance.
The registration details provided to OSASA are authorised and disseminated by DoT to port authorities in all the South African Ports of Entry. Failure to register your PAN will mean the port authorities will not have received DoT authorisation for you to enter and they then have the right to refuse your entry until you comply.
Please comply with these DoT regulations by completing the required PAN registration, well before you arrive. OSASA is managing this process voluntarily on behalf of DoT in order to preserve self-regulation. Avoiding compliance could rebound on us all; the Government wants to monitor yacht movements and at present we are able to keep the bureaucracy to a minimum.
Ports Of Entry/Departure
The following ports are the only official Ports of Entry at which leisure vessels may enter or depart from South Africa. Note that once a vessel has cleared out for departure from South Africa it may not call at any other South African port without completing formal arrival procedures once again.
• Port of Richards Bay
• Port of Durban
• Port of East London
• Port of Port Elizabeth
• Port of Mossel Bay
• Port of Cape Town
• Port of Saldanha Bay
